Stephen Humphrey

Steve Humphrey (Vice-Chair and Secretary) is a partner in the law firm Cameron LLP in Washington, DC where he specializes in intellectual property counseling and litigation and chairs the firm’s Executive Committee. He advises US and global companies in registering and protecting their trademarks and in all aspects of brand management and licensing. Steve is one of the founders of Mengo Hospital Partners (MHP).

Steve is passionate about leading and supporting organizations that are committed to helping build better futures for others. His experience in securing resources for worthy projects includes raising funds outside of Christ Church through the Daniel E. Offutt, III Charitable Trust (the “Offutt Trust”) to support the renovation and repair of properties owned by the church; securing a grant to create the Daniel E. Offutt, III Christ Church Fund for Mission and Outreach; securing a grant to support the St. Paul’s Episcopal Preschool at St. Paul’s Church in Alexandria, VA; and funds to support Carpenter’s Shelter in Alexandria; the Love Your Brain Foundation (Norwich, VT); The Ecology School at Riverbend Farm in Saco, Maine and the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. All these projects were supported through generous grants from the Offutt Trust. Steve secured from the Offutt Trust a grant of $250,000 to support MHP in launching its plans to support Mengo Hospital.

During the past 20+ years, Steve has served three 3-year terms on the Vestry of Christ Church, including a term as Senior Warden. He was active on the Children of Chernobyl committee and is currently involved in the Pastoral Care Committee.  Steve is a member of the Board of Trustees of Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS), where he serves on the Finance and Investment Committees. Founded in 1823, VTS is the largest accredited seminary of the Episcopal Church. Under an affiliation agreement recently entered into with VTS, Steve also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of General Theological Seminary of New York, the oldest seminary of the Episcopal Church. 

He earned a B.S. degree in political science from Wisconsin State University – Oshkosh and a JD from the University of Louisville; he is admitted to practice in DC, Virginia, and Maryland.
