The Mengo Pediatrics and Outpatient Building project continues to advance, bringing us closer to a transformative facility that will redefine pediatric and outpatient care at Mengo Hospital. Currently, we are in the detailed design and planning phase, where every element of the project is being carefully refined to ensure it meets Mengo’s mission to serve its community while addressing regulatory, technical, and operational requirements. This critical stage involves fine-tuning layouts, improving functionality, and integrating sustainability at every level.
At the heart of the design is a focus on circulation and open spaces to enhance airflow, comfort, and connectivity. Central atria will provide natural ventilation and visual connections across floors. At the same time, play areas will seamlessly blend with waiting spaces, creating a welcoming and engaging environment for families. Public spaces are strategically positioned to limit noise and pollution, offering a peaceful oasis amidst the bustling cityscape.
This phase, which incorporates cutting-edge sustainability measures, is pivotal as we prepare for the next steps in the process. Following design development, the construction documentation phase will involve creating detailed plans and specifications necessary for construction. Afterward, the construction administration will ensure the physical construction aligns seamlessly with the design vision, bringing the project to life with precision and purpose.
The facility will include state-of-the-art features such as dedicated pediatric and adult outpatient zones, critical pediatric inpatient areas, and innovative design elements like rooftop play areas and right-sized floor plates for optimal efficiency. Mechanical equipment is strategically located to reduce structural loading and costs while maintaining functionality.
